Grieving youth often feel alone in their grief.
Most of their friends don’t understand how it feels when someone special dies.
Camp Dragonfly provides a caring, supportive environment where youth gather with their peers to share their experiences of grieving the death of someone they love. Campers can openly express their feelings without fear of being criticized. Through sharing and playing, campers realize that their emotions are normal and that what is happening to them happens to others. Campers will also experience the camp atmosphere, enjoy nature, and benefit physically and mentally from being outdoors in the fresh air.
Camp Dragonfly is held at Camp Light which is located approximately 5 miles north of Waynesboro just off of 340N | Camp Dragonfly will resume in the fall of 2025!
Camp Dragonfly accepts donations from individuals, groups, clubs, civic organizations, and businesses. Because of these generous donations, the Augusta Health Foundation funds Camp Dragonfly. Camp is FREE OF CHARGE to campers.

Camp Dragonfly activities are designed to guide campers gently and slowly through some of the emotions of grief. Campers interact in memory book sessions, make a memory collage, attend a question-and-answer period with a physician, and take part in a remembrance ceremony. Fun is also a top priority at Camp Dragonfly. Campers learn it is not disrespectful to the memory of the person who died to laugh, play, and have fun. Activities include arts/crafts, music, swimming, team games, and archery.
Campers come to us in many different ways. We receive referrals from family, friends, and neighbors. We encourage referrals from community agencies, hospitals, hospices, school counselors, teachers, social workers, ministers, psychologists, physicians, funeral homes, and support groups. Please help spread the word about Camp Dragonfly and let potential campers know of this wonderful opportunity to help “heal some of the hurt.”
