Childbirth & Prenatal Classes

  • We recommend beginning classes during your seventh month of pregnancy.
  • Please try to register by your fifth month.
  • All classes begin promptly at 7pm and last until 9pm.
  • You will receive a confirmation email after registration.
  • Classes are held at the Augusta Health Fishersville campus in the 3W Conference Room. This is located in the main hospital building.
  • Breastfeeding Support Groups are held in the ACC Conference Room. This is located in the Augusta Community Care Building on our main campus.

Classes Offered

Childbirth Preparation Series – $100 per couple

A total of six classes are held monthly. Prenatal Education/Childbirth Class is held on the same day for four consecutive weeks. There is one Breastfeeding Class and one Baby Basics/Car Seat Safety Class monthly. See dates below. There is evidence-based research that shows that when you increase your knowledge of pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and care of the newborn, you actually increase your chances of having a healthy baby. Childbirth Classes cover the third trimester, signs, symptoms and stages of labor, body conditioning exercises, breathing and relaxation techniques, vaginal and cesarean births and other medical options, helpful hints for the birth coach, what to expect during recovery, postpartum and care of the newborn. There is also a tour of the Birthing Suite.

Individual Childbirth Preparation Classes

Breastfeeding – $20 per couple

This class is held monthly. See dates below. Breastfeeding has many benefits for mother and baby. Mothers and their partners will learn what to expect and how to avoid common difficulties.

Baby Basics/Car Seat Safety Class – $20 per couple

Baby Basics/Car Seat Safety Class is taught by a Car seat Safety Specialist Brooklyn Sykes. You can bring your car seat to this class and she will answer all your questions. She is familiar with all the brands of car seats on the market right now.

Breastfeeding Support Group

Breastfeeding moms with their babies and pregnant moms sharing their breastfeeding journeys together. Each month will feature a new topic and time to have your questions answered. Hosted by Augusta Health Lactation Consultant Alexis Lehmann, BA, IBCLC. Groups are held at the Augusta Health Fishersville campus in the ACC Conference Room. This is located in the Augusta Community Care Building on our main campus.

January Prenatal Classes: There will be a 2-day class in January. Friday evening January 3rd from 6:30pm to 9pm (snack provided) and Saturday January 4th during the day from 9 am-4 pm (snack and lunch provided).

Breastfeeding Class: January 17th: Class is 7-9pm in the 3 West Conference Room.

Baby Basics/Car Seat Safety Class: January 13th: Class is 7pm-9pm in the 3 West Conference Room.
