 Around one in eight men will develop prostate cancer in their lifetime, and the disease kills two out of three people who have it, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and organizations across the world are trying to destigmatize prostate cancer and the necessary screenings around it. Augusta Health in Fishersville offers many support groups for different kinds of cancers, prostate cancer being one of them. The support group allows men to interact with other men who are either in treatment or freshly out of treatment for prostate cancer and get their perspective on how the disease affected them.
