  • Why do you practice medicine?

I obtained my undergraduate degree in Sociology from UNC-Chapel Hill. I worked in human services and case management for 10 years helping disabled and older adults. Then, I decided to return to school for my Masters Degree in Social Work. I began working at hospice shortly after graduating. Hospice work allowed me to expand my knowledge in grief and loss as well as provide therapy to a variety of populations. Death is still one of the last taboos in our culture but that is slowly changing. My mission is to help others affected by mental health create meaningful life and well-being through the use of evidence-based practices that are proven to sustain lasting change.

  • What is a fun fact about yourself?

I studied abroad for 6 months in Scotland when I was an undergraduate student. During that time, I had the opportunity to travel to many countries in Europe.
