Diagnostic Imaging

Diagnostic Imaging
We use advanced diagnostic tools and technology so we can accurately determine your type of injury or condition. In general, radiology exams and MRI imaging are the most used diagnostic tools for orthopedic injuries and diseases.v
Radiology Exams
-
- Your orthopedic specialist may use a radiology exam to determine whether a bone is broken or a joint is damaged.
- Radiology exams can also be used to diagnose arthritis and other diseases.
- Today, digital radiology exams are used more often than traditional film radiology exams because they use less radiation and they can be viewed on a computer screen, which offers more opportunities to clearly view the picture.
-
- An MRI, which stands for magnetic resonance imaging, is often used to look closely at your body’s soft tissues and bony structures. Your specialist may use an MRI to diagnose a torn muscle, tendon, ligament or cartilage.
- MRI can also be used to view problems of the hip or pelvis and to screen for osteoarthritis and herniated disc, among other conditions.
